Chevrolet Lumina takes centre stage at Milipol Qatar 2004
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, October 06 - 2004 at 14:49
- PRESS RELEASE
The popularity of the Chevrolet Lumina with police forces around the region was the focus for General Motors (GM) at Milipol Qatar 2004.
While all the vehicles attracted a lot of attention, the Lumina continued to head the popularity stakes, where it is one of the first choices among military and police forces around the region.
According to Muneer Alhasan, Regional Fleet Sales Manager, General Motors, power, reliability and value for money are some of the key attributes that are driving police forces across the region to choose Chevrolet vehicles to meet fleet expansion requirements.
"General Motors has enjoyed considerable success over the last 12 months in supplying specially equipped vehicles to police forces around the region," he said. "We hope that Milipol 2004 will allow us to build on this success for 2005.
Alhasan said that as part of their continuous drive to modernize and enlarge their fleets, police forces in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Oman and Jordan have signed deals in 2004 to purchase more than 400 specially equipped Chevrolet vehicles.
"The Royal Oman Police will receive a total of 30 Lumina and 30 Caprice vehicles, Dubai Police will receive 29 Chevrolet Luminas, and Abu Dhabi Police 50 Chevrolet Caprices while Jordan Police will eventually receive a total of 282 Chevrolet TrailBlazers," he said.
Delivery of the up-rated and specially equipped vehicles has been continuing throughout the year and will be completed by December 2004.
Chevrolet cars already form the backbone of a number of police fleets across the region, with the Saudi General Security Forces fleet alone comprising over 7000 Luminas.
