The course was attended by 30 participants from different Government departments, selected after a series of academic and scientific tests.

Nabil Al Yousuf, Coordinator General for the Programme said, "This training course is part of a series of training programmes being organized to groom leadership qualities in UAE nationals."

"This one day course gave the participants the information on how to evaluate projects and to judge their feasibility and profit making potential. The participants were taught scientific and benchmarking tools to help them in taking right decisions quickly and accurately." said Al Yousuf.

He pointed out that the role of the programme goes beyond developing the abilities of the UAE nationals to enabling them to face the bigger challenge of participating in catalyzing the relationship between Government and private sector and to foster better coordination between the different business sectors.

He added, "The vision of H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister has always inspired us to work hard to create future leaders in both these sectors."

Christian R. Tabet, Regional Business Development Manager Middle East and South Asia assured that the support of the company to the Programme is in line with its commitment to support and encourage the participants to access the business sector and be involved in profit making ventures.

He added, "Our goal is to share BP's knowledge on Capital Value Process (CVP) with the programme participants so as to equip them with all the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to confidently enter the field and to successfully lead their projects."

According to Christian R. Tabet, the company's participation is in fact an acknowledgment of the important role that the private sector is playing in developing the human resources in the country. He also stressed that all establishments and companies of the private sector should take an active part in this vital development process in order to strengthen the national economy.

The course was conducted by Mel Hizon, BP Consultant, Group Technology with over 25 years experience in management. The course discussed topics such as how to develop the scientific knowledge of the participants, how to take quick and accurate decisions, crisis management, discussing the priorities of the projects and other related areas.

Mohammed Bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development is the first programme of its kind in the Middle East, which focuses on developing the abilities of national youth and prepares them for leadership roles. The programme was launched in line with the efforts of the Government to develop the abilities and skills of the nationals and qualify them to bear the future responsibilities. The programme was designed to develop the abilities and skills of the future leaders in the Government and private sector in a way that will facilitate the exchange and transfer of the knowledge acquired by the participants to their departments.
