- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, October 07 - 2004 at 11:02
- PRESS RELEASE
The GITEX 2004 exhibition this week saw a series of break-through announcements from IBM, including the launch of the 'smart box' car safety device, which has been developed jointly with UAE University, and the world's first biometric ThinkPad notebook.
"We believe that GITEX plays an important role in gathering vendors, channel partners, end user organizations and individuals together to share ideas. It gives us the opportunity to liaise with the industry and allows visitors to find out more about the latest technologies that will shape the future of this region," said Samer Shaar, general manager, IBM Middle East, Egypt and Pakistan. "This year's show was certainly no exception."
IBM also unveiled details on a large-scale migration project with eHosting DataFort, the region's leading hosting facility based at Dubai Internet City, as well as a multi-million dollar deal with Ettihad Etisalat through its business partner in Saudi Arabia, Saudi Business Machines (SBM).
