ARAMEX International Limited breaks new ground with innovative, state-of-the-art global tracking system
- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, October 09 - 2004 at 14:48
- PRESS RELEASE
The leading total transportation solutions provider in the MENA region and South Asia, ARAMEX International Limited (AIL) has officially launched its state-of-the-art new global tracking system to serve its customers worldwide.
"The ARAMEX Shipment Management System IT platform has been custom-designed to meet the very specific needs of our customers and partners. We have placed thousands of working hours in design, development, testing and implementation efforts to come to where we stand today," said President and Chief Executive Officer Fadi Ghandour.
"Investment in cutting-edge technology infrastructure—to facilitate the handling of millions of domestic and international express packages and freight shipments—is at the heart of the ARAMEX development and global expansion strategy," Ghandour added.
"The unique advantage and significance of this technology platform for ARAMEX is its ability to integrate with different systems, positioning ARAMEX as the technology cornerstone of a recently formed new world wide alliance of express providers, the GDA alliance," said AIL Vice President Express Adrian Horsley.
The Global Distribution Alliance (GDA), co-founded and chaired by ARAMEX, is a network of more than 40 independent, express operators who together provide comprehensive global coverage with strong local market expertise.
"This vital alliance would not have been possible without the backbone of this tracking system that provides total visibility and tracking capabilities to our customers worldwide," Horsley explained.
"The shipment management system internet technology platform is scalable enough to meet performance and future growth needs. It provides a fresh set of features that allow us to perform a wide range of transactions, ability to get various analytical reports on all levels and accurate and instant calculation of customer due charges besides issuing customer invoices electronically," said AIL Chief Technology Officer Samer Awajan.
The system enables warehouse operators and couriers using the newly introduced hand-held barcode scanning devices to download and transmit real-time information to ensure swift tracking and tracing of customers' shipments.
