120 per cent jump in sales for Jacky's at GITEX Shopper 2004
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, October 10 - 2004 at 13:12
- PRESS RELEASE
Leading electronics retailer Jacky's has ended its third year at GITEX with record sales for the GITEX period.
Representing 50 brands, showcasing 500 products and offering 50,000 prizes including a Plasma TV, LCD TVs, MP3 Players, Digital Cameras and much more, the Jacky's stand at GITEX Shopper attracted thousands of visitors, most of them making their GITEX purchases at Jacky's, said Ashish Panjabi, Chief Operating Officer, Jacky's Electronics LLC.
Jacky's showcased a host of wireless products and digital lifestyle gadgets, including MP3 players, digital cameras, PDAs, notebook computers, mobile phones, gaming consoles & software and LCD monitors.
"As a multi-brand retailer, our focus has always been to offer the customer maximum variety and this is clearly also a major contributor to Jacky's year on success at GITEX. Our sales at GITEX Shopper this year increased 120 per cent over GITEX 2003. This was our strongest showing ever and we're looking forward to greater gains and an even more formidable presence next year," he said.
Gains in sales were seen across product categories with the IT and telecom product ranges leading in terms of sales. According to Mr Panjabi, the vigorous sales that Jacky's enjoyed this year were the result of a combination of factors, including cohesive teamwork, vendor support, and public confidence in Jacky's.
"There was a time when some vendors and resellers used to use opportunities like GITEX Shopper to clear out old stocks. However, the scenario has changed today with the entry of the 'organised retailer' into GITEX Shopper," said Mr Panjabi, adding that Jacky's looked at the event as not only a platform to generate sales but as an opportunity to form long-term relationships with existing and potential customers within the UAE and beyond.
"Our stand size at GITEX 2004 had increased 20 per cent over the preceding year. We had also substantially increased the number of sales counters to ensure that our customers get the most attentive, individual sales service and to better accommodate our expanding number of partners," he said.
As part of its GITEX 2004 initiative, Jacky's had involved various vendors into their planning for the event including HP, Acer, Toshiba, Dell, Canon, Samsung, Kodak, Fuji, Nikon, Apple, Palm, BenQ, Thuraya and various other camera, mobile phone, PDA and IT manufacturers. The feedback from vendors and insight into new product launches helped Jacky's plan out its strategy for this year's GITEX and enabled its sales team to get sufficient training in the right areas.
