BP presents Abu Dhabi Petroleum Institute with Wytch Farm 3D seismic data
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, October 12 - 2004 at 16:04
- PRESS RELEASE
BP yesterday presented the Abu Dhabi Petroleum Institute (ADPI) with a 3D seismic data set from the environmentally pioneering Wytch Farm oil field for use by the students and teaching staff.
BP and its Wytch Farm partners have given their permission for the data to be used by ADPI students as a case study of modern oilfield development in an environmentally sensitive area.
"We hope that having access to this high quality data set will enable the students to develop their skills in 3D seismic interpretation and at the same time appreciate the environmental concerns that led to this unique development," said David Dalton.
The data is particularly relevant in Abu Dhabi because of the similarities between Wytch Farm and ADCO's new Al Dabbiya'h development. BP is currently assisting ADCO in this project by providing drilling and reservoir experts with Wytch Farm experience.
Mohammed Zainal said: "This data will provide our students with a case study of one of the world's most famous oil fields which has set milestones in both environmental and drilling technology. We are sincerely grateful to BP and its partners for this gift."
