JABA first organized AJEX in 2001 and 2003, after the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) was signed between Jordan and the USA, in the endeavor of encouraging and promoting trade and investment between both countries, creating awareness and highlighting the vast range of opportunities resulting from the trade agreement.
'Today, we realize that Jordan must seize a great unique opportunity and capitalize on the differential trade agreements with the United States, the European Community and the Arab world. AJEX is a result of this realization providing a platform to respond and embrace the global market trends and opportunities that lead to the excelling of an economy.' said Mr. Azzam Shweihat, the Chairman of JABA. Since its creation in 1999, JABA has grown to an organization of more than three hundred and eighty member companies by providing business development, networking and matchmaking support, training, business consultation, and public policy advocacy.
AJEX 2004, with the apt theme of 'Partnering for Success' truly brings together experts and professionals from various sectors to collaborate and share their expertise and insights in the different means and opportunities available from the FTA, and the establishment of Jordan as a key gateway to the Iraqi reconstruction market. Opportunities to do so will arise through the breakout sessions on sector related best practices and business development topics; as well as the networking possibilities with various international business delegations through the private consultations and networking desks provided by government organizations, US trade office representatives, JABA's business development unit, the Jordan US Trade with Iraq Program (JUST Iraq Program) and the Jordan-US FTA Unit.
AJEX 2004 will be two days of uniting experts and participants from Jordan, US, Iraq, Europe, Africa, Asia and the region, together in exploring opportunities through various seminars and sessions presented throughout the conference. The AJEX 2004 exhibition running simultaneously alongside it, will open to the professional community the chance to view numerous organizations that represent importers of US products, US franchisees, producers and exporters of Jordanian products, companies operating at QIZs, US technology companies, regional American chambers of commerce, business associations and government organizations.
AJEX 2004 is supported by the USAID - funded AMIR program, as well as a group of private sector sponsors. It is the third conference and Expo, after the success of both AJEX 2001 and AJEX 2003.
