One of the challenges of life on the move for Brent is keeping track of his finances.

'Every time I move I'm paid in a different currency,' says Brent. 'There are sometimes outstanding bills to pay after I have already left a country, or final income payments that I need to keep tabs on.'

After leaving the United States, Brent opened an offshore bank account.

'Since I opened an offshore account with HSBC, it's made my life a lot easier. I can open an account in the currency of the country I'm going to next before I leave, and transfer my earnings from the country I'm leaving to my main US dollar account. I can also pay overseas bills and check my balance online.'

'One of the things I find particularly useful is the e-Statement facility - I can look at my statements online. This means I can keep track of the incomings and outgoings in my different accounts wherever I am.'
