World re-knowned security specialist returns to chair major E-Security event

  • United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, April 09 - 2002 at 11:43
  • PRESS RELEASE

An international faculty of expert instructors will be led by the consummate Alan E. Brill, Senior Managing Director and Technologist of Kroll Associates, the Risk Consulting Company at this year's e-Security 2002.

Article continues below
Prior to joining Kroll, Alan was Director of the Information Systems and Information Security Bureau of the New York Department of Investigation - and a Deputy Inspector General in the New York City government. No one knows better therefore how the events of September 11 have served to increase awareness of security on a global basis - in the physical AND the virtual worlds.

e-Security 2002 will begin with a one-day workshop on the new global standard for information security - the ISO 17799. Says Alan Brill: "Historically, a company had to answer questions like 'Do we have the right amount of information security? Are we spending too little or too much? Are we getting the best results for the money we are spending?' But now the International Standards Organisation has approved a standard to guide any organization, whether in the public or private sector".

A second pre-conference workshop will examine Cyber Crime And Computer Forensics. It's a "must" for law enforcement personnel, lawyers and corporate security managers - indeed anyone likely to be involved in dealing with computer crime.

This highly interactive workshop will be entirely based on Case Studies and real-life scenarios. Delegates will play out being a member of a First Response team at the site of a serious computer crime. And they will also learn first hand how to document and prepare evidence for transport and analysis - what detectives' call "tagging and bagging".

The main conference will examine all the major issues of the day, including:

Critical components of Intrusion Detection systems.
Building an Enterprise Security Framework.
Conducting technology risk assessments, and
Maintaining business continuity when disaster strikes.
The latest in firewall technology

"When" rather than "if" is the new mindset - and one brought into sharp focus by the previously unimaginable events of September 11. A presentation on Crisis Management and Business Recovery will map the essential steps necessary to survive a cyber-attack and return to normal operations.

Ultimate Hacking Exposed is a post-conference workshop building upon a live hacking demonstration during the conference itself. Having witnessed this fascinating demo, delegates will then become hackers themselves - downloading tools off the Internet to hack into both Windows NT and Unix systems.

Alan Brill and his team have put together a riveting analysis and action plan to beat cybercrime - and prevent disaster BEFORE it strikes.
