Etisalat launches Ramadan Kareem package

Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat) today announced the launch of 'Ramadan Kareem', a new package that brings themed religious content direct to mobile subscribers' handsets.

The package is a combination of different services provided by MMS and eWAP/GPRS, and can be accessed by prepaid and postpaid subscribers who have the appropriate handsets.

The package has been split into two and customers can sign up to any of these. The Wadakkar service offers an audio recording and MMS message of a set of verses from either Holy Quran or Hadith for each day of Ramadan at a monthly fee, which will also continue after Ramadan. The voice is of the popular Al Afasy. This is presented in association with aiwagulf.com and Asia Vision and can be accessed by sending 'R A' via SMS to 1010.

The proceeds from this service will be used for the betterment of educational institutions in the UAE. Etisalat aims to underline its commitment to the community by providing them with spiritual assistance at this time, as well as take this initiative forward for the benefit of the education of the underprivileged.

Alwan Ramadaniyah is a premium MMS service for eWAP and GPRS subscribers, which includes wallpapers, mobile screensavers and mobile greetings. This service is presented in association with ATS Technology Solutions and can be accessed by sending the item code to 1212 via SMS.

We hope that our customers will appreciate the access it will give them to religious content in keeping with the mood of the month. As a corporation, we are also pleased that we are able to contribute to a charitable cause during this holy season.
