INTRACOM appoints new sales director for Gulf and Subcontinent

To support their rapid regional expansion strategy, INTRACOM, one of the world's largest providers of telecommunications, information and defense electronic systems, announced today that it has appointed Jorge Soto as sales director for the Gulf and Subcontinent.

INTRACOM has adopted aggressive growth tactics in the Middle East, targeting the region's fastest growing industries including all four key verticals-telecommunications, defense, government and banking.

Soto joins INTRACOM after spending over 5 years at one of the world's largest IT company's, both in the UAE and Spain, where he was responsible for promoting their offering to enterprise and mid-market customers.

"Having spent over 12 years working with reputed companies in the IT field, Jorge's vast experience is welcomed at INTRACOM. His in-depth knowledge of business processes and practices in the Middle East is certain to add value to our offering in the region," said Stavros Vougas, managing director, INTRACOM Middle East FZE.

One of Soto's key roles as sales director will be to ensure overachievement of sales objectives at INTRACOM. He will also oversee the definition and implementation of channel strategies throughout the Middle East designed to capture strong market share in some of the region's leading markets.

"This region is a significant market for INTRACOM and in my capacity as sales director, I am committed to making sure that our cost effective, state-of-the-art offerings are well received in the Middle East. My previous experience in marketing will also help me ensure that our relationships with regional clients stay strong in the long-term," said Soto commenting on his role.

INTRACOM engages in the production of a wide range of advanced products, as well as integrated services for the design, manufacturing, turn-key project implementation and technical support in a number of key areas including public telecommunication networks, public telephony and smart card systems and digital satellite applications.

By the end of 2004, INTRACOM is expected to sign contracts valued at more than 620 million euros. Currently more than 45 percent of the company's annual turnover is generated by exports and in the next few years that figure is expected to reach 50 percent.
