Dubal promiment feature in important Australasian Aluminium Conference

DUBAL, the world's largest single site smelter and one of the leading international aluminium producers, was the prominent feature at the 8th Australasian Aluminium Smelting Technology Conference and Workshops, held at Yeppoon, Australia, on the 3-8 October, 2004.
"The conference was an unrivalled success for DUBAL. It seems that at every major aluminium event, DUBAL leaves the lasting imprints of its status as one of the major players in the aluminium industry, and the Australasian Aluminium Conference was no different. We came away invigorated by the acclaim we received, especially since on the 25th anniversary of our conception, DUBAL remains an international force to be reckoned with," said Mr. Abdulla Kalban, Director of Operations, DUBAL.
The event is organized every three years and groups together all the major industrial players of the aluminium industry, including plant personnel from aluminium smelters world-wide, renowned industry consultants and academics, R & D Groups and material vendors. Speakers were invited to present papers on a wide range of topics, such as aluminium technology advances, metal products and productivity and process enhancements.
"The conference was the perfect opportunity for DUBAL to highlight its outstanding evolution in the twenty-five years since its inception. From its relatively modest beginnings in 1979, producing 135,000 tonnes of aluminium, today it manufactures a massive 686,000 tonnes per annum, supplying 112 individual products to 240 customers in 44 countries around the world. In environmental care alone, DUBAL has invested over US$400,000 since its inception and US$165,000 in more recent years. No other company can boast of such a record," added Mr. Abdulla Kalban.
As things stand, DUBAL can be certain of mounting international recognition. Its Dubai-based operations comprises an enviable seven potlines, with 1201 reduction cells. It has a 1,650 megawatt power station and a carbon plant capable of producing 375,000 anodes daily. It possess 3 caste houses producing to a capacity of 870,000 million tonnes of finished metal. A 30 million gallons per day desalination plant and dedicated port facility form the other major feature of DUBAL's infrastructure. Together, these attributes help to cement DUBAL's status as the world's largest single site smelter.
