The 2-day event to be held in parallel with the 2nd PDA & Smartphone Summit, will be the first of its kind in the Middle East and holds the potential to grow into the most significant networking event for the wireless industry in coming years. With the best in the business including wireless technology manufacturers, service providers, operators, corporate end-users, regulators, system integrators and hot-spot solutions managers scheduled to participate in and/or attend the event, D-Link will find an excellent platform to communicate and reinforce its position as the undisputed leader in the wireless and WiFi segments.

"D-Link has over the years, developed an unrivaled competency in wireless manufacturing, which would not have been possible without a strong foundation in the core technology." Said Fateen A. Fateen, D-link Middle East Chairman. "Our active R&D, a focus on innovation and a concerted drive to eliminate the traditional limitations and barriers in the wireless product space has been crucial to the attainment of this pioneering status. Today, D-Link holds a clear lead in the wireless networking segment over its rivals, especially in the 'quick-to-deploy' MENA region. That said, WiMax is a key investment area in D-Link's future roadmap. Our participation at the WiFi / WiMax summit is therefore an essential step in keeping our customers, partners and the industry informed about the great strides D-Link is making in creating and offering the best in the world"

WiFi, once deployed, will have the ability to allow users to connect the Internet using a high-speed wireless network offering higher throughput rates than contemporary technologies including cable and ADSL. Up until recently, the high cost of development of proprietary products to operate with the technology made it prohibitive for most vendors. But with the new standards-based approach (IEEE 802.16), costs of development are likely to drop, especially as economies of scale begin to kick in.

"WiMax is a truly new concept in wireless and has the potential to reshape the future of networking. However, due to its infancy and the fact that it is still a work-in-progress in terms of interoperability, there are various misconceptions about the true capabilities and potential of the technology." Said Wilson Xavier, D-Link Middle East business Manager, "D-Link's strategic objective at the summit is to offer answers to these questions and provide a broader perspective of the utility of this great new technology in terms of its ability to solve business and real-world problems through creative application and solutions. "

As part of its WiFi agenda, D-Link is forging ahead with an application-focused approach to provide the newest and best in the market. D-Link Middle East in particular is emphasizing the 'solution' aspect of D-Link's offerings driving a performance and productivity message to its customers.

At the WiFi & WiMax summit, D-link will present and demonstrate a lineup of its latest products including its enhanced multimedia lineup. This includes the first-in-market 802.11G wireless IP camera range as well as the versatile DSM 320 Wireless Media Player. Also displayed will be D-link's award winning Extreme G Wireless networking products, wireless broadband technologies, outdoor wireless products and Bluetooth devices.

D-Link Technical engineers and business-development team will be on hand to answer any visitor queries or to take appointments for detailed discussions.

The D-Link stand will be located at booth A3, easily approachable from the main entrance of the venue.
