Welcoming Maersk to the event, Mr Mubarak Al Mohannadi, Deputy Executive Director QSi, said, 'I am very pleased that Maersk have agreed to support the Gulf Cup for the first time. This year's event in December is set to be the best ever particularly with the help of Qatar's foreign energy sector partners, such as Maersk. I am personally very pleased that they have understood the benefits of working with QSi in this exciting tournament'.
Mr. Jakob Thomasen, the Managing Director, said that Maersk Oil Qatar is pleased to participate in the 17th Gulf Cup Tournament. Maersk is proud of the contribution made to Qatar both in the Oil and Gas Industry and to the community.
Maersk Oil Qatar expressed its best wishes to QSi Management and staff and all the success in the forth coming event and the 15th Asian Game in 2006.
Maersk Oil Qatar is a subsidiary of A.P. Møller - Maersk Group based in Denmark, where they are engaged in diverse activities from exploration and production of oil and gas, shipping, ship building, aviation, industry and supermarkets.
Maersk Oil Qatar AS is actively engaged in enhancing Qatar's oil production as operator of Al Shaheen Field, Block 5 and Block 5 Extension Area offshore Qatar under an Exploration and Production Sharing Agreement with Qatar Petroleum.
Already a major Gulf sporting competition involving the national football teams, Qatar has added the football teams of Iraq & Yemen to those of the six GCC States, in a new-look event with basketball, handball and volleyball also being played for the first time in the tournament being held in Doha 10-24 December.
QSi is the Qatar National Olympic Committee's own sports business directorate established by the President QNOC in 2003.
QSi was granted the exclusive marketing rights to the 17th Gulf Cup in April this year. Under this agreement QSi has developed a comprehensive package of benefits to attract international event partners.
Its role is to develop professionalism and cost effectiveness in the sporting development of Qatar. In its brief history it has achieved corporate international and technical sponsorships for the QNOC, managed major international sports business expo's and conferences, sports and leisure events, whilst acting as the catalyst for development of major new global sports business initiatives, to the benefit of the country.

In its very first working relationship with Qatar's dynamic sporting agency, QSi, Maersk Oil Qatar, today became an Event Advertising Partner of the all new 17th Gulf Cup, a major sports event taking place in Qatar this December.
