Companies must focus on leadership for success
- United Arab Emirates: Monday, November 08 - 2004 at 12:04
- PRESS RELEASE
Companies that invest in effective team leadership programmes achieve better results and a more productive work environment according to management trainer Philip Geatches from the Dubai-based training consultancy knowledgenetwork (knet).
Geatches is the management trainer heading the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), Team Leader programmes in Dubai.
Candidates are encouraged to think through common team problems and use different strategies to create their own solutions, rather than relying solely on facts, figures and models.
After completion of the training programme, participants are expected to become more responsible for the short-term and the day-to-day running of things which include reaching targets, vertical communication within the organisation all while maintaining team harmony.
A group of 14 staff from the leading hotel Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina has already completed their training, with a second group midway through the course.
Jawahar Shantharaj, training manager at the resort, said: "Our business is a 'people' business, and our success depends on helping team members develop their competencies to achieve better guest satisfaction.
"The course content is based on work place scenarios which gives a good learning and coaching experience and helps executive team members in their personal career development as they achieve higher qualifications."
The Introductory Certificate in Team Leading has been specifically designed to introduce existing team leaders or aspiring managers to the skills needed for effective leadership.
