Arabcom 2002, which will run in Doha from April 21 to 23, is being organised by HiTEK Magazine and The Xperimental Group, under the patronage of HH Sheikh Abdulla Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister of Qatar. Billed as the largest annual event of its kind featuring the latest developments and trends in the telecom, IT, postal and broadcasting sectors, Arabcom this year will be attended by over 1000 government and industry delegates, including Ministers of the Arab States and official representatives from international organisations.
According to Arabcom general manager Jean Louis Farwagi, of special significance this year at the event is the presence of exhibitors representing the Postal sector the first ever in the region outside of Lebanon. Products and services that will be presented in this sector will cover the whole range of postal automation, mail processing, mail center information and other systems. 'These systems represent the latest technologies and systems currently being implemented in developed countries
by well known post companies, including the British Postal Consultancy Service, ' said Farwagi. Other highlights in this sector at the expo are a special conference on Mail Processing solutions for the Gulf region, presented by Siemens, and a gripping presentation on the future of the post company, held by Transend Worldwide of New Zealand.
'Arabcom is particularly noted among the concerned sector players as the most important platform in the region to showcase their products and services,' said Katia Tayar, President & CEO of Arabcom. 'The event provides an exceptionally powerful platform for constructive dialogue between regional senior government officials and the private sector players including investors, agencies, financiers, banks and manufacturers. This event is expected to influence major decisions among these players that will shape the region's telecom and IT trends for the coming years,' said Tayar.
The Forum will be held at the Ritz-Carlton, and the Expo at the Qatar International Exhibition Center.
