- PRESS RELEASE
The Architecture+ Awards Exhibition is currently underway at the Dubai World Trade Centre, as part of the Big 5 exhibition, and as a prelude to the awards in December.
Rashid Taqui, CEO of Inhouse Creative and publisher of Architecture+ magazine, organisers of the event, said that over 80 international submissions would stay on display at the venue until the end of the Big 5 exhibition from November 19 to 24, 2004. "We received over 170 submissions from all over the world, and these have now been narrowed down to 34, which are the finalists for the prestigious award. All submissions were evaluated for performance against design brief, optimisation of design opportunities and sensitivity to sustainable development, with emphasis on projects accomplished in the New World (a creative reference to emerging countries in the Third World) and are collectively, of the finest calibre. It is a privilege to display their work at a public forum, and make it more known to the industry professionals who are expected to attend the exhibition," he stated.
Also on display at the Architecture+ Awards Exhibition are some unique and hitherto unseen models of regional expertise in architecture and real estate planning and development. Among the many projects on display are the Bahrain Financial Harbour, The World, The Jumeirah Islands, and International City.
A third component to the exhibition is the Professionals' Choice Award, a special category of judging the entries on display. According to Taqui, the 30,000 or more industry professionals attending the exhibition will be invited to cast their vote for the most compelling entry on display. This award too, will be presented along with others selected by international jurists, at the Architecture+ Awards scheduled to be held at Dubai Media City in December.
