British University in Dubai holds 'Open Day' at its Knowledge Village campus

The British University in Dubai (BUiD), is organising its second 'open day' in Dubai since opening in September, on November 24, from 2-8pm.

The event, which is taking place at the BUiD campus at Knowledge Village, is open to all who are interested in finding out more about the research based university and those who are considering studying one of BUiD's Masters programmes - Information Technology, Project Management or Education - starting in January 2005.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. David Lock, Registrar and Acting Chief Executive, BUiD, said: "The open day is targeting people who are interested in receiving more insight into our Masters programme. Our academic staff are on hand to answer questions, learn more about the advantages of studying at BUiD and provide information on registration. The event is very informative and I encourage anyone who is considering a Masters degree to come and visit us and learn more about our university."

Lock continued: "Since we opened in September we have provided numerous ways to showcase our unique offerings and make studying as accessible as possible. By bringing the best in British education to the Middle East, we are supporting His Highness Sheikh Mohammed's vision in making Dubai the region's education hub."

As part of the Open Day, BUiD is also organising a public lecture entitled "The Challenges and Imperatives of Educational Leadership in an Era of Change". which is being delivered Professor Fentey Scott. This will be taking place at 6pm at the campus. The lecture is one of an ongoing series of Public Lectures provided by BUiD which give professionals and members of the public the opportunity to hear about the latest developments and research in various disciplines and to engage in debate with leading academics.

The British University in Dubai (BUiD) is the Middle East's first research-based university. The university was established to facilitate access to world-class education, training and research in the Middle East. The founders of the University are the Al Maktoum Foundation, The Dubai Development and Investment Authority, Rolls Royce, the British Business Group and the National Bank of Dubai. The University is managed by a provisional council under the chairmanship of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

Emirates Group recently announced its support for the University by partnering through a financial contribution.
