'Hong Kong in Style' exhibition brings record number of Hong Kong companies to Dubai

  • United Arab Emirates: Sunday, November 21 - 2004 at 15:07
  • PRESS RELEASE

For the first time, more than 200 Hong Kong companies will be in Dubai from 12 to 16 December for the largest ever exhibition of Hong Kong products.

The event, 'Hong Kong in Style', will be held at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre, running concurrently with the annual International Autumn Trade Fair.

'Hong Kong in Style' features market-leading companies exhibiting award-winning consumer electronics, fashion, toys, jewellery, watches and optical goods.

"Dubai was a natural choice for this ground-breaking fair. The city attracts quality buyers from around the region, looking for competitively-priced, stylish products," said Jeff Ambjorn, Middle East Director for event organiser, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

"Previously, buyers had to travel to Hong Kong to see such a wide selection. With 'Hong Kong in Style' we are bringing the products to you," Ambjorn said.

In addition to the exhibition, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council has arranged a business forum targeting companies interested in China and the wider Asia region, and a gala dinner, highlighting Hong Kong designs and haute couture.

"The business environment here is very similar to Hong Kong," Ambjorn added. "Both cities are dedicated to free trade and business efficiency. Both are marked by impressive skylines and vibrant lifestyles. And both are international business cities, providing easy access to their surrounding regional economies."

The UAE is Hong Kong's largest export market in the Middle East. Between January and July 2004, exports rose 4.2 per cent, building on the strong 27 per cent growth in 2003. Major exports include garments, telecom equipment, watches and clocks, office machinery and computer parts, A/V equipment and precious and semi-precious stones.

Trade buyers will get free entry to 'Hong Kong in Style' from December 12 to 15 and the exhibition will be free for the general public on December 16.
