Fastlink Mobile Data services manager Ziad Al-Masri said the electronic gateway provides a larger package of data services and applications, pointing out that the service has been made available in the Arabic language in addition to the existing English version, in order to avail it to the largest number of customers. He said the upgrade was imperative at a time when the mobile phone has become a multi-media device.

Masri said Jordan enjoys a number of privileges in the communications sector, enabling the Kingdom to become a regional information and communications technology hub. In this context, he added that Fastlink has always tried to contribute modern technologies and advanced services to the market and to customers.

He pointed out that the Company's strategy currently focuses on the introduction of new generations of voice and data services. He said the number of WOW gateway subscribers has reached 70.000 today.

Mobile Internet WOW is a service that offers a variety of applications in both the Arabic and English languages, enabling customers to conduct online research, access their email, play games online, get entertainment and news in addition to accessing Fastlink services including "My email", chat through WAP, or visit the online Customers Service section through 1234.

By using WOW, customers can surf the Internet to seek any piece of information using the existing search engines such as Google and Yahoo, download ring tones, play Java games on their mobiles, search for the latest movie releases and read news updates.

Masri said the mobile industry has been growing very fast, taking the phone to a new dimension that exceeds its function as merely a communication tool, and integrating information and communications technology to render the phone into a multi media, multi functional tool.

He also said that mobile phones have become an essential commodity that is highly needed so as to facilitate people's lives, entertain them, and improve the business and income of several sectors of society.

The electronic gateway was developed in cooperation with Eskedenia, and allows customers to integrate several services, including email, chatting, entertainment and games, in addition to accessing Fastlink Customers Service through the Internet 1234.

Eskedenia General Manager Na'el Salah said the existing cooperation between the two companies is an exemplary model for joint ventures by mobile service providers and software programming companies, who together can develop highly advanced technologies for the Jordanian communications market. He said such a move would allow for linking the mobile with the Internet to provide audio and visual data to customers easily and quickly, any time, anywhere they are.

Fastlink has been a leader in providing customers with a variety of useful services such as mobile Internet WOW, a new generation of mobile data such as GPRS and MMS, making the doors wide open to a new era of data communications in the Kingdom.
