MEFTEC 2004 - important showcase for financial IT

Today, the first Middle East Financial Technology Exhibition & Conference 2004 has been officially opened by H.E. Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the Governor of the Bahrain Monetary Agency and was attended by over 500 dignitaries and opinion leaders from the local, regional and international financial community.

About 90 exhibitors from 25 countries are showcasing their know-how and services, which is the largest dedicated show for the financial sector in the region.

A great number of exhibitors are exhibiting for the first time in the Middle East to test the market and to benefit from the strong economic growth and the fast development of the financial sector which is driven by the strong influx of Oil and Gas revenue.

The Conference Program on the first day has been concentrating on future trends for the financial IT and will demonstrate in the coming two days the emerging technologies and new Operating Structures and Systems. Of special interest are about 30 Technical Seminars that will be held over the next two days, introducing new applications, products and services for the regional banking and financial institutions. The Technical Seminars are free of charge for all participants and provide a practical way of learning about the latest cutting-edge solutions and technologies.

The exhibitors, delegates and visitors have all been very positive about MEFTEC 2004, which provides for the first time a one-stop-shop for the financial sector. Especially delegations from the Asian countries have expressed their satisfaction with the concept of this event and see the great market potential which can be attracted in Bahrain.

The large variety of products and services is best reflected in the statements made by the various participants at the event.

The event is organised by the Bahrain Convention and Exhibition Bureau (BCEB) and Media Generation Exhibitions.
