  • PRESS RELEASE

The Rivoli Group, the region's renowned retailer of exclusive international luxury brands, continues to strengthen its product portfolio by announcing the launch of Montegrappa, the leader in the world of luxury brand pen.

Montegrappa, the oldest Italian pen manufacturer will be introduced through the unveiling of its 'Peace Pen' - the most precious pen in the world priced at AED 4.7 million.

The Peace Pen will be displayed for the first time through exhibitions at Burj Al Arab and Emirates Towers from November 24 to 30, 2004.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Ramesh Prabhakar, Managing Partner of the Rivoli Group, said: "Montegrappa collections are realized using sophisticated jewellery techniques such as deep drawing, low relief engraving, hand-etching, die-casting, vitreous enameling, hot enameling on materials such as gold, silver, precious stones and celluloid. Thanks to the passion of its professional craftsmen a Montegrappa pen is transformed into a Fine Writing Jewel, a unique and rare piece, an emotional object that has the capacity to distinguish its owner.

"In the hands of the highest statesmen of the world and of main personalities of the cultural and artistic panorama, since their introduction, Montegrappa pens have been available in limited quantities at a selected network of authorized dealers. Rivoli in the UAE now takes pride to be one of them".

In creating the Peace Pen, Montegrappa, has once again focused on its distinctive traditional characteristics: the highest level of craftsmanship, striking originality in design and the exclusive use of the most sophisticated techniques of the goldsmith's art. Fashioned in platinum, the octagonal section of the Peace Pen consists of panels of Baccarat crystal, alternating with others entirely covered in baguette and rose-cut diamonds, amounting to a total of 1,259 diamonds - 48 carat in all. David Monalto di Frangito, the internationally renowned artist who was responsible for the design of this pen, has hand-engraved on the crystal dove motif, the universal symbol of peace, using a diamond point.

With this authentic work of art, Montegrappa is underlining its commitment to the Peace Parks Foundation, an international organization which is devoted to the establishment of Transfrontier Conservation Areas in the African continent with the aim of creating conditions of peace and stability in the region.

The Peace Pen is enshrined in an equally prestigious casket of Baccarat crystal whose handle is in the form of a sculpted hand. On this hand rests a dove, the symbol of the Peace Parks Foundation as well as universal peace, the radiant ideal of humanity. It is an object of pure light expressing Montegrappa's wish for a wonderful and peaceful year ahead.
