DDF joins Emirates, Jumeirah International and Nakheel as Presenting Sponsors of the festival.

"DDF has long established itself as one of the top supporters of major international events in Dubai," said Festival Chairman HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. "Its support for the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) is proof not only of the festival's importance but also solidifies Dubai Duty Free's reputation as a leading sponsor of events that are key to Dubai's overall development."

"Although the sponsors come from diverse industries, they share a common vision for this festival that goes beyond a successful six days," Sheikh Ahmed added. "All four are united in securing Dubai's long-term growth and development, and the festival will contribute immensely to this effort by enhancing the positive image Dubai enjoys around the world."

Colm McLoughlin, Managing Director of Dubai Duty Free, said: "We are very happy to be involved in the festival, and our sponsorship is the latest step in our drive to raise the profile of the Dubai as a prominent player in the field of business, sports, and now the arts."

Dubai Duty Free's involvement in the Festival reflects the organisation's commitment to boosting the city's cultural landscape and follows a recent decision to become a Diamond Patron of the forthcoming Dubai Theatre and Arts Centre, McLoughlin added. "The Festival's focus on bridging cultural barriers was the ultimate factor that led to our decision to become a Presenting Sponsor of DIFF," he said.

The Dubai International Film Festival will be held between December 6 and 11, 2004, and will feature approximately 80 films including 55 features as well as retrospectives and short films. The festival is divided into 10 distinct programs, each focusing on a particular festival theme.
