- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, November 28 - 2004 at 12:07
- PRESS RELEASE
Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat) yesterday opened this year's Forum for International Irregular Network Access (FIINA) conference - a five-day anti-fraud and telecom security meeting being held in Dubai from November 27 to December 1.
FIINA is expected to make big advances in fraud prevention as its members gather in closed-door sessions. Ali Amiri, Etisalat's Executive Vice President for Operations, said: "We consider this a hugely significant meeting given the importance we attach to our network security, something our customers should be able to take for granted.
"The FIINA conference is one of the big events in the international telecom sector's calendar and we are glad of the fact that it is being hosted in Dubai - and for the first time in the Middle East."
"This year, we are also very pleased to see five new applicants for membership of FIINA, further extending its worldwide reach. These are Pakistan Telecom, Palestine Telecom, Sri Lanka Telecom, ETECSA Cuba, and O2 of the United Kingdom."
Four major corporations have signed up to participate in this key industry event by exhibiting and making presentations on key issues. These are HP, Symantec, Cable & Wireless and Pręsidium.
He added: "Etisalat is a regular participant at FIINA meetings and we are pleased to take this opportunity to host our peers in our country for the first time."
