Leading international faculty will present practical solutions to address common health care challenges affecting the Middle East. Among the topics that will be covered are oncology, cardiology, the health of children and expectant mothers, and common medical problems.

Practi-Med Dubai 2004, which will take place December 5 - 7th at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel Conference Center, will feature lectures, case discussions, and workshops designed to facilitate discussion of the latest research on a range of topics, and provide health care professionals with the knowledge to enhance primary care practice.

"In line with our efforts to develop Dubai as the regional hub for medical education and services, the Dubai Healthcare City in cooperation with Harvard Medical International is pleased to organize another Practi-Med event. In December 2003, more than 1,200 physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals gathered in Dubai for the first lifelong learning program developed by HMI and DHCC. Earlier this year, HMI and DHCC collaborated on two Specialty Practi-Med programs, one on diabetes and another on musculoskeletal health. The response has been enthusiastic and program attendees have reported immediate impacts on the way they approach their daily practice." said Omar Moawiyah Al Shunnar, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer of DHCC.

"This program has been designed to provide physicians in the UAE with a wide range of information to inform their daily practice immediately," said Dr. Harvey Makadon, HMI director and Harvard Medical School associate professor of medicine, who built the concept behind Practi-Med. "Primary care physicians in the communities of the UAE have the opportunity to prevent medical problems before they occur, or to diagnose and treat conditions as they arise. We hope that by communicating the latest advances and tools used to deliver quality health care, we can help elevate their daily practice and enhance the prestige of primary care in the region."

The program for Practi-Med Dubai 2004 was developed by HMI in collaboration with leading local medical authorities in the UAE.

Each session of Pract-Med Dubai 2004 will include opportunities for attendees to ask questions. In addition, each day will feature a "Meet the Professor" session in which the Practi-Med faculty will meet with small groups of interested attendees, who are encouraged to bring cases to discuss informally.
