The agreement commencing on 6 December 2004 will offer customers more choice for travel between Europe, the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent, covering code sharing services on Gulf Air flights from Abu Dhabi or Bahrain to Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and Muscat.

James Hogan, President and Chief Executive of Gulf Air, said KLM flights from Amsterdam will connect with Gulf Air flights in Abu Dhabi and Bahrain for onward travel to Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and Muscat.

"Gulf Air and KLM will collectively offer their customers increased choice," he said. "This agreement is in line with our objective to establish strategic partnerships and alliances to complement and add value to Gulf Air's network, which is fundamental to our customer service. By extending our relationships through alliances such as this, both the airlines and customers win as we are able to achieve cost synergies and our customers gain access to a broader global market."

The new agreement with KLM also reinforces Gulf Air's position as a world class airline. In entering into a code share agreement with Gulf Air, KLM conducted an extensive audit on Gulf Air operations.

"Obviously KLM liked what they saw," adds Hogan, "and we were particularly proud of their observations on our safety policies and practices which they said were among the best they have seen in the world. We are confident that this code-share agreement takes us to even greater heights of customer service and will allow a brand-new group of customers to experience the unique delights of Arabia."
