Wooden powerboat racing is a sporting and cultural phenomenon throughout the Gulf, providing great entertainment for the whole family, while maintaining Middle Easterner's historical connections to the water.

The boat racing season consists of nine races in 2005, all of which are to be held in United Arab Emirates at the Dubai International Marine Club and the Abu Dhabi International Marine Sports Club.
