Dubai Media City yesterday honoured the winners of the fourth Ibda'a Media Student Awards at a glittering ceremony held at the DMC Amphitheatre.
In an event where young creative talent rubbed shoulders with eminent media personalities, the winning students received recognition and prizes that could jump-start their careers. Leading global and regional media giants sponsored the prizes.
"This year Ibda'a reached out to media students all over the world and the huge response we received shows that talent, creativity and excellence have no borders," said Abdulhamid Juma, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Media City and Coordinator General of Ibda'a Media Student Awards 2004. "The greater diversity of talent that the Awards attracted this year also encourages us to further strengthen our Ibda'a campaign next year," he added.
Sponsors of the Ibda'a Awards 2004 were felicitated at the ceremony for their support. The sponsors included ARN, BBC, Dubai Press Club, FedEx, Khaleej Times, Motivate Publishing, Network Production, Seven Stars, Showtime and Virgin.
A representative of the UAE Chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA), which assisted Dubai Media City in managing the judging process of the Awards, was also felicitated.
Earlier this year, the Ibda'a team conducted a massive series of roadshows in media schools and universities in several countries including Iran, India, Egypt, Lebanon, UK, USA, Australia and Canada. The Ibda'a Awards 2004 evoked tremendous response, attracting 2013 entries from more than 20 countries. For the first time, participation came from Puerto Rico, Palestine, Italy and Canada.
