U.S.-trained and American Board Certified heart specialists join American Hospital Dubai to establish regional heart center

The American Hospital Dubai has appointed a new and highly experienced, U.S.-trained and American Board Certified physician team to establish a comprehensive Cardiac Program Center of Excellence to serve patients in the UAE and the region.
The Heart Team consists of Dr. Emad Dodin, a Jordanian American and eminent interventional cardiologist, who has been appointed Director of the Cath Lab and Dr. Fouad M. Azoury, a Lebanese national and well known heart surgeon, who has been appointed Chairman of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the hospital. Both physicians studied, trained and practiced in the US.
Dr. Dodin has performed interventional procedures, including complex and high risk cases, utilizing his skills in caring for complex and very sick heart failure patients and developing significant experience in treating these patients both in ICU and Outpatient situations.
Dr Azoury's special interest is in minimally invasive cardiac surgery, valve repair rather than replacement and in particular beating heart (in which the heart is not stopped during the operation) coronary artery revascularization. He has completed over 500 beating heart bypass procedures.
These Physicians will join Dr. Khaldoun Taha, Cardiologist who has been practicing at the Hospital for several years. Dr. Taha is also US Board Certified and trained at the Cook County Hospital, Chicago and the University of Missouri.

Dr Emad Dodin received his undergraduate degree from the University of Jordan and then joined the University of Illinois in Chicago, where he completed his training in Internal Medicine and Adult Cardiology. He elected to spend one year of training on Interventional Cardiology techniques with one of the most experienced and well respected pioneers in Angioplasty, Dr Thomas J. Linnemeier at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis. Dr. Dodin is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Adult Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology.
Dr Dodin then started his practice as an Interventional Cardiologist at Altru Health System, a hospital based practice in Grand Forks, North Dakota, where he held positions such as Cath Lab Director, Section Chief and Director of Medical Education over a period of eight years.
About Dr Fouad Azoury
Dr Fouad M. Azoury undertook his fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Henri Mondor Hospital in Paris., before undergoing his General Surgery residency training at the South-Brooklyn surgical training program in New York, completing the program with a distinguished flourish as 'Best Chief Resident of the Year'. He then completed a formal Cardiothoracic Surgery residency training at Case Western Reserve University Hospital, in Cleveland, USA.
In 1998, Dr Azoury joined the staff of the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation, as a Clinical Associate in the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. He then moved into private practice, in 2001, in his home country as a Cardiothoracic Surgeon at the Sacre Coeur University Hospital. His work has been widely published in national and international professional publications on topics related to his surgical interests.
