Dolphin, will thus be on the crest of a wave in this its very first time as sponsor of the tournament. They join other important global and regional companies, keen to demonstrate their support of this completely repackaged and major regional sporting property.
Khalifa Al Subaey, Executive Director QSi, said 'I am very pleased to have Dolphin join the Gulf Cup team, as it clearly demonstrated that the strong economic ties between Qatar and UAE, as manifested by modern technologically driven companies like Dolphin, could also assist in supporting important regional sports, such as the 17th Arabian Gulf Cup. Dolphin are a major regional force in energy and Qatar their major supplier.'
Dolphin Energy's Yousef R Al Khater, Deputy General Manager commented: 'Dolphin Energy is delighted to support the region's star football event. We are particularly proud to be an Event Partner this year, in honor of the late President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahayan, who strongly supported the growth of the game throughout his rule.'
Dolphin Energy Limited was created to develop substantial energy projects throughout the GCC. Its objective is to create long-term economic wealth and new business opportunities for GCC citizens, far into the future.
Dolphin Energy's major strategic initiative, the Dolphin Project, involves the production and processing of natural gas from Qatar's North Field, and transportation of the dry gas by pipeline to the UAE, in 2006.
Dolphin Energy's first initiative, the Al Ain to Fujairah Pipeline, came on stream in January 2004.The pipeline supplies the Fujairah Water and Power Plant on the UAE's East Coast - initially with natural gas from Oman, and subsequently with Dolphin gas from Qatar.
Innovatively re-packaged by hosts Qatar, this year's Gulf Cup is set to be a truly unique event. Already a major Gulf sporting competition involving the national football teams, Qatar has added the football teams of Iraq & Yemen to those of the six GCC States, in a new-look event with basketball, handball and volleyball also being played for the first time in the tournament being held in Doha 10-24 December.
QSi is the Qatar National Olympic Committee's own sports business directorate established by the President QNOC in 2003.
QSi was granted the exclusive marketing rights to the 17th Gulf Cup in April this year. Under this agreement QSi has developed a comprehensive package of benefits to attract international event partners.
Its role is to develop professionalism and cost effectiveness in the sporting development of Qatar. In its brief history it has achieved corporate international and technical sponsorships for the QNOC, managed major international sports business expose and conferences, sports and leisure events, whilst acting as the catalyst for development of major new global sports business initiatives, to the benefit of the country.
