Visiting Thai delegation impressed by Dubai's rapid tourism growth

The Director General of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Mr. Khalid A bin Sulayem, received a delegation from Thailand headed by Ms. Juthamas Siriwan, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, at the DTCM Head Office recently.
The Director General held discussions with the delegation on the tourism and trade industry issues and updated them about Dubai's rapid pace of progress. He also inquired about Thai tourism industry and discussed about ways to strength relations and benefit from each others experience.
The visiting delegation was briefed about the rapid growth of tourism in Dubai followed by a discussion on bi-lateral issues and ways to strengthen relations between Thailand and Dubai.
The DTCM Executive Missions, Mr. Abdulla Bin Sowaidan, gave a presentation on the major developments in Dubai to the delegation which was well received by them.
The delegation was impressed with the rapid growth of tourism in Dubai finding it incredible and different from other parts of the world.
Dubai has seen a rapid increase in the number of visitors from the Far East. The number of Dubai hotel establishment guests from the Far East saw an increase of six per cent in 2003 over the previous year from 242,303 to 257,863.
