Emirates Data Clearing House (EDCH) is one of only five companies worldwide that provides GSM or mobile phone companies with electronic data transfer and financial services. EDCH now services operators 40 operators in 23 different countries with a network that is expanding to meet the growth in call traffic volume that has risen by a steep 40 per cent over one year, to an value of approximately AED 2-B.

When a user makes a telephone call on roaming status, or outside of their home network, EDCH ensures that the call is accepted and verified by the appropriate network within seconds. Details of the call are then transferred securely through an electronic network to the user's home network for recording and eventual billing. The process is complex and must be completed seamlessly with the utmost accuracy and dependability.

'We are now poised for further expansion as a major international player at the forefront of the industry,' said Ahmed M. Almehyas, Manager of EDCH. 'As people discover the many uses of mobile technology our company has earned the trust and respect of service providers across North Africa and the Middle East.'

EDCH has recently expanded its client base to South Africa, and is actively looking for more international partners in this rapidly growing business sector.

'Our partners depend on us because of our superior flexibility and support,' Mr Almehyas said. 'Our low overhead costs here also compare favorably with our competitors in the United States and Europe. We plan on capitalizing on these attributes in the near future.'

Delegates to the annual user EDCH conference will receive updates and participate in several discussions dealing with best practices in this emerging industry. The conference is being held at the Marriott.
