General Motors brought 300 of its major fleet customers from around the Middle East region to Dubai this week to demonstrate its unparalleled range of cars, 4-wheel drives and pickups and to detail its comprehensive range of fleet solutions.

The event commenced with a detailed briefing on the vehicles and services available, followed by a series of test drives at the Dubai Autodrome, which were designed to demonstrate drive-ability and performance. Vehicles featured included the full range from Chevrolet, GMC, Saab, Cadillac, Opel and Hummer.

"We have had a very strong year for 2004, with fleet sales expected to represent about 47% of GM's overall sales in the region. We believe this event will be the catalyst to our ongoing success in 2005," commented Muneer Alhasan, Regional Fleet Sales Manager, General Motors Middle East. "GM has the most extensive line up of vehicles available in the region and will use this event to show our existing and potential customers just how GM can provide the necessary solutions and support to their fleet needs."

Underlining GM's commitment to implementing excellent service, Alhasan unveiled a number of new fleet solutions as part of the company's ongoing drive to provide Fleet Excellence across the region.

"We are recruiting a new team of Fleet Sales Managers, based in our core regional markets to strengthen and enhance the loop between GM and its retailers, our retailers and fleet customers and fleet customers and GM," said Alhasan. "This loop will allow for communications in all directions so that information can be communicated faster and more efficiently.

"Better communication lines, increased levels of training, the Fleet Excellence Standards Programme, tailored retailer financing plans, competitive pricing, more demo cars, increased parts availability and aftersales support are all designed to work together to ensure that General Motors and its retails exceed fleet customer satisfaction at every step."

2004 has seen General Motors sign a number of major deals with fleet customers around the region. Many of the region's police forces turn to General Motors for their fleet solutions: deals have been signed recently to provide Chevrolet TrailBlazers to the police in Jordan and Chevrolet Luminas and Caprices to the police in Oman, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The Saudi General Security Forces fleet alone includes over 7,000 Chevrolet Luminas.

"Our customers range from governments to car rental companies, across all corners of the private and public sectors," added Alhasan. "More and more customers are turning to GM because they see genuine business benefits such as low maintenance costs, durability, reliability, and value for money from using our vehicles in their fleet behind companies choosing GM to meet their fleet requirements," he added.
