DED and Zayed University sign MoU for scientific cooperation

In its continuing effort to support and encourage economic and scientific research in Dubai, the Department of Economic Development (DED) has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zayed University.
"Access to genuine and well researched scientific and economic information is crucial to the development of a nation's economy," said Mr. Alabbar. "The MoU with a leading university such as Zayed University will enable us to work together to leverage the academic strengths of the University and the well-established research methodologies in place at DED. It will also facilitate in advancing economic research and studies in Dubai in particular and the UAE in general. The agreement will cover all the research areas which are vital in supporting the process of economic and social development in the Emirate," he added.
Dr. Hasan Hanif emphasised the significance of the DED as one of the most important government departments known for its strategic initiatives, which contribute to the economic development of the Emirate which in turn supports the development of the UAE economy.
Dr. Hanif said: "Zayed University looks forward to working closely with the DED and supporting the research projects in all fields of interest to the DED, through its distinguished professors and experts in the different fields of scientific research. The research facilities and scientific centres at the university will provide their service to the different sectors of the state under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Education and chairman of Zayed University," he added.
Dr. Hanif also indicated that the university is highly interested in applied research, especially in social sciences and the university cooperates with a number of prestigious international universities in this regard.

About Department of Economic Development (DED):The Department of Economic Development (DED) was established in March 1992, with the objective to organise, regulate and boost trade and industry within the Emirate of Dubai. The DED has moulded its mission of building a futuristic establishment, in accordance with the vision of the Government of Dubai and in the light of globalisation and the requirements of a digital economy. One of its key functions is to encourage local and foreign investments in commercial and industrial projects, and create the appropriate environment for investors.
