After consolidating its premier position in the Africa, Middle East and Far East freight logistics industries, the Swift Group is now focusing on India and South Asia, making India the 17th country in the Swift network.
Swift Shipping & Freight Logistics will offer its customers complete supply chain solutions including customs clearance, transportation, warehousing, distribution and Air, Ocean and Sea-Air services. The India operations are headed by Managing Director Mr. Mark D'Souza, who has over 20 years of experience in the shipping and logistics industry both in India and abroad. Mr. D'Souza has worked with DHL Danzas, Reliance Industries, P&O Ports and P&O Nedlloyd.
Swift Dubai is very upbeat about the launch. 'There was a growing need to have our own office in South Asia and especially in India to facilitate a smooth trade flow between growing markets in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, and Europe and the U.S.,' said Mr. Issa Baluch, Chairman of Swift Freight and President of FIATA. 'Our logistics network, combined with the in-depth understanding of our customer needs in India, will ensure that Swift will deliver unparalleled logistics solutions and visibility of their cargo.'
Mr. B Rajagopalan, Managing Director of the Swift Group, is very pleased at the launch. 'India is a growing market and its customer needs are always challenging,' said Mr. Rajagopalan.
