DTCM to make local culture more accessible as a tourism product

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM)recently held the sixth and last meeting of the Travel and Tourism Group for the year 2004.
It looked in to the issue of having a bigger area at the Dubai International Airport for the eye scan machines as proposed by Dubai Naturalization and Residence Administration (DNRA) and the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA).
The DNRA also announced that they were considering setting up offices in some shopping malls and five star hotels to issue and renew visit and residence visas in order to ease visa regulations for the visitors.
A committee was set up representing tour operators and DTCM to look into the diversification of the Dubai Tourism Product and increasing the accessibility of Arab and Local culture in order to enhance visitors experience in Dubai.
The DTCM provided members with the existing number of hotel rooms in Dubai and the forecast until the year 2009 and again reminded them against directing their visitors to specific gold and jewellery shops at the Gold Souq while they were on a tour at the souq.
The members, comprising the DCA, DNATA, Dubai Immigration, Dubai World Trade Centre, Gold & Jewellery Group and representatives of tour operators, travel agents and car rental company, thanked the DTCM for their continued support in adhering to their concerns.
