Artwork for auto spare parts show

  • United Arab Emirates: Thursday, December 16 - 2004 at 14:14
  • PRESS RELEASE

The artistic correlation between the spare parts industry and the region's largest auto aftermarket exhibition may not be immediately apparent to most, but the organisers of the next Automechanika Gulf trade fair in Dubai have chosen a new and very creative image for their next show, scheduled to be held in Dubai 28 - 30 May 2005.

Messe Frankfurt, the organisers of Automechanika Gulf, turned to famous American artist, Boris Lyubener, to create an image for the event that captured the contemporary and diverse nature of the industry. The result is something that is colourful and full of action.

"The new image combines the past, present and future of the Automechanika Gulf event", said Michael Dehn the exhibition's manager. Engineers, mechanics, petrol station attendants, tools and modern safety technology have all been captured by Lyubener in a truly unique style. The collage effect is especially suitable as it dismantles the traditional system of order and permits new connections to be made between the various elements.

Another reason why Messe Frankfurt chose to use the new image was to represent automotive manufacturing sector now included in the event's profile. Quite recently HH President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nayhan received the CEO of Volkswagen to discuss plans for an assembly plant in the UAE, which clearly indicates the potential for suppliers to this industry.

Boris Lyubener is renown for transforming conventional pictures and traditional painting methods by using a modern, diverse pallet of techniques. His repertoire of artistic tools includes scanners, spray guns, computers and of course brushes and pencils. "He specialises in this striking visual style and aims to tell the whole story with just one illustration", said Dehn.

The Automechanika Gulf story continues from strength to strength too, with over 400 exhibitors anticipated at the next show. Steady growth in the auto aftermarket combined with the UAE's 9.2% annual growth in vehicles sales has led to the organisers increasing the allocated space for the show by 50%.
