Radisson SAS receives cultural award from Sharjah ruler

The five-star beachfront Radisson SAS Resort, Sharjah has been given a cultural award for its efforts in promoting the emirate's culture and traditions.

The award, from Sharjah's Department of Culture and Information, was presented to Guy Chidiac, the hotel's General Manager by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, member of the UAE's Supreme Council and the Ruler of Sharjah.

"Support for local culture and heritage is an important part of our business plan," said Chidiac. "We are honoured to have received this award which will spur us on to even greater efforts in the future."

In line with the hotels Responsible Business (RB) programme, The Radisson SAS Resort, Sharjah has hosted and sponsored numerous promotional events for the emirate over the past year, including the Sharjah Ramadan Festival, the Sharjah Book Fair and various sporting and leisure events for people with special needs. It has also taken part in a number of exhibitions alongside the Sharjah Commerce & Tourism Development Authority.

Social responsibility is a key plank in the business philosophy of Rezidor SAS Hospitality, the international multi-brand hotel management company which operates the Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts brand.

All Radisson SAS hotels have designated RB co-ordinator to develop and implement initiatives that are relevant to the particular needs and issues of the region and community it serves. In-depth training is also carried out for each employee on the importance and impact of the RB approach.

"This programme, which we in Sharjah have keenly adhered to, covers all aspects of hotel operations, including guests, staff, owners, government, suppliers and the local community," added Chidiac.
