Now in its third year, the highly successful Zayed University e-biz challenge encourages student teams from across the Gulf to submit e-business plans for competition and judging by industry leaders. The purpose is to identify and recognize future talent - the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. The challenge also provides students with excellent networking and professional growth opportunities. In addition to great hands-on experience exhibiting their talent and creativity, students get feedback on their plans from other entrepreneurs and successful professionals, as well as the chance to compete for valuable prizes. They also learn about entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as intellectual property issues.

As the official career sponsor, Bayt will author a monthly "careers" column for students in Campus Journal (a weekly college and university newspaper distributed throughout the UAE and Kuwait) and put on a panel discussion hosted by young entrepreneurs for the benefit of all students and the community, to name a few of the planned activities.

"Bayt shares a commitment with Zayed Universtity to the development of young entrepreneurial talent in this region. We are pleased to able to contribute to this development on so many levels through this partnership," says Rabea Ataya, CEO of Bayt. "By supporting the local student community through workshops and career articles, we will further anchor Bayt's leadership position in online recruiting for the Arab World."

Bayt is an entrepreneurial success story in its own right. Since its launch in 2000, Bayt has grown from strength to strength and now operates a network of eight offices in the Middle East. With over 700,000 professionals and over 10,000 companies currently using its recruitment services, Bayt has established itself as the recruitment leader in the region.

"The collaboration with Bayt reminds students and organizations alike how important innovation and entrepreneurship are to bringing the UAE to the leading edge of business and information technology," said Dr. Abdullah Abonamah, director of Zayed University's Institute for Technological Innovation. "The competition continues to provide a much needed link between academic institutions and industry in the Gulf region. It gives businesses the chance to tap into the enormous talent of the future e-entrepreneurs."

Last year, 73 student teams and their faculty advisors took up the challenge, with the top 10 teams from HCT Women's Sharjah, ZU, HCT Men's Abu Dhabi, Sultan Qaboos University (Oman), UAEU, and King Fahd University (Saudi Arabia).

The challenge is coordinated by the e-biz team at Zayed University's Institute for Technological Innovation (ITI). The ITI is a Zayed University owned and operated business center that is designed to educate business leaders and aspiring professionals on innovative and emerging technologies.
