Malaysian Prime Minister tours Nakheel projects

H.E. Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Prime Minister of Malaysia, has toured some of the signature projects of Nakheel, the leading property developer in Dubai.

The visit happened at sideline of Prime Minister's official visit to the UAE, to attend the recently concluded Arab Strategy Forum held in Dubai where he was a keynote speaker for the concluding session.

H.E. Badawi visited The Palm, Jumeirah, The World and Ibn Battuta Shopping Mall as well as Nakheel's sales office in Jumeirah. He was accompanied by senior members of the Malaysian Cabinet including, H.E. Syed Hamid Albar, Minister of Foreign Affairs; H.E. Prof. Abdullah Madzein, Minister of Prime Minister's Office and H.E. Ahmad Husni Mohamad Hanadzlah, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of Nakheel, Marwan Al Qamzi, Head of Procurements and Contracts, Nakheel and other senior Nakheel executives accompanied the guests. The premier expressed his admiration for the projects of Nakheel, which has redefined the rules of property development in the Middle East region.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman, Nakheel said: "The Prime Minister's visit to projects of Nakheel is a great endorsement for our signature developments. Such visits and endorsements of national leaders, policy makers, business and industry experts is a tribute to the salience of our projects which is offering some of the most unique and inspired living, retail and commercial investment options anywhere in the world. Dubai's name is now synonymous with iconic developments as Nakheel is endeavouring to realise the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister."

"In addition, Dubai lies at the centre of the region in terms of offering services and infrastructure solutions for business and investment. Its safe and secure environment, tax free economy have raised its profile as evidenced by the cosmopolitan mix of several nationalities who live in Dubai. Dubai has been able to achieve all this because of the skilful and visionary nurturing of the its leaders," said bin Sulayem.

The Prime Minister and his high level delegation were comprehensively briefed about the several projects of Nakheel, by Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem at the Nakheel sales office in Jumeirah.
During the tour, H.E. Badawi, complimented Nakheel for undertaking the development of The Palm and other projects, which he described as challenging. The Prime Minister also hoped to promote cooperation in tourism and real estate projects by taking the lead in improving the ties between the business and commercial entities based in Dubai and Malaysia.

"Malaysia is another lead market for Nakheel as investors from the country had made known their desire to invest in some of our signature projects. With regards to real estate development both Malaysia and Dubai have startling similarities in terms of the investment options and unique developments," said Bin Sulayem. "This visit by the Prime Minister, has given more depth to the fruitful relationship that Nakheel has with leading commercial and engineering entities based in Malaysia."
