Intel inaugurates Beirut office

Following a visit last year by Intel CEO Dr. Craig Barrett to Lebanon, the launch of the new office supports Intel's ongoing channel campaign, where the company is increasing its presence in new cities in the region to be closer to its channel members and provide them with enhanced training and support to help them grow their business by delivering the latest technology solutions to their markets. The announcement was made at a press conference held at the new premises by Intel regional director for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa Aysegul Ildeniz, as well as Daryl Ganas, Intel's worldwide channel director for emerging markets, along with senior officials from the company and members of the press corps.

"Intel has always been active in Lebanon through our work with the local channel, in addition to the launch of major initiatives, such as the Finance Competency Center at the American University of Beirut," said Ildeniz "We are also actively involved with international hardware and software vendors, as well as independent software developers to help create state of the art solutions in the region for the region."

Manned by a professional team of IT experts, the new Intel office will report to the Egypt, Levant and North Africa region, managed by Karim Fahmy.

"We are delighted to officially inaugurate our operations in Lebanon," Fahmy said. "We believe Lebanon to be a key market in this region, and our presence on the ground will help us to build on our existing relationships and develop new ones to support our expansion in this region"

On the education front, Intel is currently finalizing the details of its "Intel Teach to the Future" program in Lebanon, which is aimed at training teachers to incorporate the use of IT in their teaching. On the other hand, and since the launch of its Intel® Centrino™ in 2003, the company has been working with Lebanese service providers to increase the number of hotspots around the country and support the deployment of the wireless infrastructure.
