Three groups of employees from Dubai Justice Department, Department of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Dubai Civil Defence took the eEmployee and ICDL Start examination at HCT and praised the excellent facilities provided for the participants.
The ICDL START certification is an internationally recognized computer proficiency standard owned by the European Computer Driving License (ECDL) and sponsored by the UNESCO's Cairo Office.
'The eEmployee program was designed by Dubai eGovernment in an effort to enhance computer competency of all government employees,' said Mahmood Al Bastaki, Acting Director of eServices, Dubai eGovernment. 'The increasing demand for the program has created the need for an examination centre that has consistently high standards and state of the art facilities. Higher Colleges of Technology has all the equipment and staff needed to offer world-class examination facilities for government employees. We are confident that after acquiring both certificates, employees of government departments will have a better understanding of the various IT processes and systems that support Dubai eGovernment's eServices'
Mansour M. Al-Jedayeh, Manager, Information and Communication Technology, HCT, said: 'We are pleased to host the examination for eEmployee certificate. Dubai eGovernment has made impressive strides in the delivery of eServices. The eEmployee project is a great idea that will ease the task for government departments to increase their employees' computer literacy. We observed a high degree of interest and commitment among the participants.'
Shaeb Ali Hatem Ahli, an employee from the Department of Justice, said: 'The eEmployee training has considerably widened my knowledge of computers. Though I have been using computers for some time, the course helped me become skilled at advanced tools in Microsoft Excel, which will facilitate my work and enhance my productivity and performance.'
Mohammed Jamal Al Din Wazir, an employee from the IT Department of Dubai Civil Defence, remarked: 'I found the courses to be very interesting and useful. This training will help me use computers expertly to ensure rapid progress within my workplace.'
eEmployee has been designed to provide computer skills to government employees through online and classroom training leading to the ICDL (International Computer Driving Licence) certification. Candidates who complete the exam get an eEmployee certificate from Dubai eGovernment and an ICDL Start certificate from UNESCO.
Dubai eGovernment has tied up with major training institutes to deliver the training programme, which covered topics like Basic Concepts of computer, Using the PC and Managing Files, Word processing and Spreadsheets.
The dedicated portal (www.eemployee.ae) enables government employees to register and complete the course.
