In a last minute effort to confirm their support of the regions' most important sporting event, major local contracting company Midmac, followed by local F&B brand Kateam, both became Official Event Advertising Partners by signing at the QSi offices in the QNOC building on Thursday.

Commenting today, Deputy Executive Director of official rights holders QSi, Mr Mubarak Al Muhannadi, said 'It was very pleasing to note that local companies remained so keen to be involved in this fantastic event due mainly to our extensive advertising campaign in the regional press & TV. Even though the event has started now, demand remains strong to demonstrate commitment to the Gulf Cup and to support of major sports events in the country and we have not even reached the semi-final stage yet!'

Midmac Contracting is one of the leading local construction companies, operating in Qatar or more than forty years. Midmac's track record includes various landmark projects in the building, infrastructure, oil and gas, and industrial sectors. Midmac has been involved in the construction of various sports facilities projects, including the Sports City Stadium.

Kateam is a Doha based restaurant specialising in Saudi foods.

Already a major Gulf sporting competition involving the national football teams, Qatar has added the football teams of Iraq & Yemen to those of the six GCC States, in a new-look event with basketball, handball and volleyball also being played for the first time in the tournament being held in Doha 10-24 December.

QSi is the Qatar National Olympic Committee's own sports business directorate established by the President QNOC in 2003.

QSi was granted the exclusive marketing rights to the 17th Gulf Cup in April this year. Under this agreement QSi has developed a comprehensive package of benefits to attract international event partners.

Its role is to develop professionalism and cost effectiveness in the sporting development of Qatar. In its brief history it has achieved corporate international and technical sponsorships for the QNOC, managed major international sports business expo's and conferences, sports and leisure events, whilst acting as the catalyst for development of major new global sports business initiatives, to the benefit of the country.
