Among other luminaries who attended the launch are Mr. Tawhid Abdullah, Managing Director of Damas and the renowned Michel Parmigiani, President of Parmigiani Fleurier. Speaking at the reception, Mr. Tawhid Abdullah remarked, "That one of the brightest stars of the watch making industry has stepped into the brand conscious market of UAE. And the brand is sure to capture a sizable chunk of the market." Mr. Abdullah also added, "Thanks to the unprecedented efforts of the government, the UAE is racing ahead as a market force to reckon with. And in a short span of time the country has gone on to become one of the hottest tourist destinations in the world particularly for shoppers seeking high-end designer brands."
Also speaking on the occasion, Mr. Parmigiani said, "It is a pleasure to see my brand enter a dynamic market like the UAE that appreciates quality. Those close to our industry will tell you that Parmigiani watches believe in very selective retailing. And we are proud to have found a partner of the stature of Damas in this unique market."
Mr. Michel Parmigiani's watch making skills has now attained legendary proportions. And his company which started in 1996 is among the foremost in the watch making world. This was only as it had been expected. Michel Parmigiani, after all, has grown up in the midst of craftsmen whose skilled hands shaped his creativity.
He quickly chose to take watch making training and then devoted himself to restoration of extraordinary famous creations that were entrusted to him by private collectors and museums around the world. In 1995, the very influential Sandoz Family Foundation, impressed by the immense talent of Michel Parmigiani offered to help him start his own brand Parmigiani Fleurier. And thus was born a brand known today for unmatched watch making value.
Michel Parmigiani's pursuit for excellence has led him to create masterpieces like the Forma XL Automatique, Forma XL Minute Repeater, Forma XL 30-second Tourbillion, and now the Type 370 - the world's first watch arranged on a horizontal axis. The Type 370 is a marvel of watch engineering said to parallel the race car making prowess of Bugatti. This limited edition watch will have no more than 150 pieces produced in 2005.
It really fits for a brand like Parmigiani to hold partnership with Damas. Both brands make a perfect combination to offer the best of watches to the quality conscious market of UAE. It is definitely an indication that the true glitter has finally come.
