Presentation held on BITS' IT security event

The Bahrain Information Technology Society (BITS) held a presentation on 15th April to update members of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and invited guests, at the BCCI Grand Hall, to brief them on the forthcoming IT Security Conference and Exhibition scheduled for 20 - 22 May 2002.

Chaired by Mohammed Nass, Head of E-Commerce Section, representing the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Adeeb Al Mutawa, Chairman of Conference and Seminar Committee and Head of the organising conference committee and Dr Salah Al Majdoob, recently elected President of BITS, the presentation updated the attendees about the conference topics, speakers, exhibitors and the importance of taking part in the event.

Under the patronage of H. E. Mr Ali Saleh Al Saleh, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Kingdom of Bahrain, the conference, the first of its kind to take place in Bahrain, is entitled, 'IT Security: Strategies and Solutions for the Information Age' and will be held at the Gulf International Convention and Exhibition Centre (GICEC).

"IT security is one of the most critical topics for organisations and individuals and our IT Security Conference and Exhibition will bring to the fore the latest happenings in the industry and innovations and methods used internationally to combat security invasions," said Adeeb Al Mutawa.

During the presentation Dr. Salah Al Majdoob announced that the Conference will feature 15 renowned speakers and three keynote speakers from international companies including Ernest and Young Consultancy, KPMG, Cisco and Computer Associates. This team of experienced professionals will lend their expertise to 18 sessions on groundbreaking technological advances in the field of IT security.

The keynote speakers are: Dr Simon Moores, Ambassador to the UK Office of the e-Envoy, Cabinet Office, London, is also a well known British technology expert, TV and radio personality, columnist, Dr Ahmed N. Tantawy, Technical Director of IBM Middle East and North Africa and Mr Sabri H. Al Azazi, Certified International Security Specialist Professional, Chief Operating Officer of Datafort, Dubai, UAE.

Ten conference topics are: IT Security Strategies and Policies, Disaster Recovery, IT Security Solutions, IT Network Security, Intrusion Detection and Prevention, Human Issues (Awareness and Training Of Personnel) and IT Security for: E-Banking, E-Commerce, E-Government and In Mobile And Wireless Environment. The concurrent exhibition will feature 30 stands showcasing the latest hardware and software solutions available in the field.

"The BITS Conference and exhibition is an unprecedented opportunity for those in the field of e-business, IT protection, CEO's, Chief Technology Officers, Managers and IT Professionals, to attend," added Dr. Salah Al Majdoob.
