International Det Norske Veritas (DNV), an Accredited ISO Certification Body, presented Etisalat's HR Department with the ISO 9001 certification at a brief ceremony in Etisalat's Abu Dhabi Head Office.

This important certification reflects the internal measures Etisalat Human Resources has adopted to refine and improve its procedures. "We decided to streamline our processes, introduce automated services and eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy as part of our drive toward continuous improvement and customer satisfaction," said Abdulaziz Al Sawaleh, Executive Vice President - HR of Etisalat.

"It was collaborative teamwork at its best and showed the commitment of HR staff to create value-added services for all of our more than 10,000 employees across the United Arab Emirates," added Al Sawaleh. "In the new competitive and global market we are poised to enter, it is critical that our employees have the ability to do their work in the most effective manner possible. We also want to give them every opportunity to improve themselves in a progressive and healthy work environment. Our employees are our most valuable asset and it is they who will take the corporation to the next level," Al Sawaleh explained.

The certification follows another major award for Etisalat Human Resources. Last October the GCC Council of Ministers of Labour and Social Affairs honoured Etisalat with a special award for its nationalization program.

The award noted Etisalat's unprecedented success in the implementation of recruiting policies and and training programs that have proved immensely successful for both its employees and the corporation. Currently, nationalization figures are running at more than 42 per cent of the total workforce and 73 per cent of senior management. Etisalat expects to achieve its goal of 50 per cent nationalization over the coming year.
