This is the second time that Emirates Post hosted a UPU-sponsored workshop, consolidating Emirates Post's position as an internationally accredited TRAINPOST training center and the region's leading provider of postal training with state-of-the-art facilities and ideal training environment.
"This workshop consolidates Emirates Post's position as a world-class postal training provider through the development of contemporary regulations and management practices and diversified products, designed to meet global and domestic challenges and changes. Emirates Post is following a growth strategy that is guided by developments in the economic, digital and knowledge fields", said Mr. Abdullah Al Daboos, Director General of Emirates Post.
"The UAE has become a model for development that is driven by the creation of right infrastructure, taking bold decisions and quick actions, supported by full modernization. This has introduced speed into project management in both public and private sectors," added Mr. Al Daboos.
Dr. Hassan, from UPU's International Bureau, said Emirates Post's Training & Development Centre occupies a unique regional position for its many achievements in training, development, performance management and technological advances. He lauded the optimal working conditions, contemporary training methodologies and teamwork at the centre.
Mr. Chouiter hailed the centre's early adoption of the "Trainpost" standards and said that it is the first training centre in the Arab world to download programs on the 'Trainpost' website. Chouiter congratulated Mr. Abdullah Al Daboos on providing excellent hospitality and high standard training facilities to the participants.
Mrs. Wiaam Shihaab Ghanem, Manager, Training & Development Centre, said that the centre had internally designed and prepared more than 30 programs, of which half are contemporary modules in Postal Services. The center trained 800 employees in 2004 and the programs are customized and delivered according to latest market needs and trends. The centre, based in Dubai, covers the whole of the UAE and provides services to more than 77 branches.
In 2005, the centre aims to train more than 90% of the total workforce and will continue to expand its strategic partnerships with quality training providers. The center will also provide services to Empost, the Electronic Documentation Center and boost business partnerships with Gulf Postal Administrations. Training programs offered will include Strategic English Language enhancement programs, supervision skills, customer services focus and sales. Products programs are being developed to create new co-branded services with other governmental institutions. Besides this, the center will attempt to get a number of new international accreditations in IT, such as ICDL, which it already achieved earlier in 2004.
