The Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon and GMC Suburban were named in the luxury and full-size SUV category. Ten of the 38 vehicles named Best Buys in the magazine's latest issue, which was released on November 1, are GM products.

The winners were picked from 265 2005-model vehicles. Each was driven for three months and evaluated based on multiple factors including safety ratings, ownership costs, warranty, price, ergonomics, styling, amenities, fuel economy and cargo space.

"The strength of our truck products has long been acknowledged by the automotive industry - we are very proud of the numerous awards our SUV's receive every year," said Samer El-Khalil, Marketing Manager Chevrolet 4x4 and GMC for GM Middle East. "No other manufacturer has matched the comprehensive power, strength, comfort and reliability and of the GM trucks line up."

The Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon and GMC Suburban are all built at General Motors' Arlington assembly plant in Texas. The Arlington plant had several products at the top of the J.D. Power & Associates dependability survey, its vehicles have also done well in a survey of initial quality by J.D. Power and the plant is the most efficient full-size SUV plant in the country, according to Harbour Consulting.

This international recognition follows closely on the heels of GM's regional launch of its 2005 4x4 line up, held for retailers and members of the press in Salalah, Oman in September. With GM truck sales up 45 percent on the same period last year throughout the region, General Motors Middle East is making a growing contribution to the international success of the trucks segment worldwide.
