New general manager appointed at Crowne Plaza Bahrain

George Koumendakos has been appointed by InterContinental Hotels Group, the world's most global hotel company, as general manager of the Crowne Plaza Bahrain.

Previously stationed as the executive assistant manager of the InterContinental Riyadh, Dutchman Koumendakos brings to the role extensive experience and understanding of the Middle East's hospitality market. In his new role, Koumendakos looks forward to developing business at the Crowne Plaza Bahrain.

"Bahrain is an increasingly important market for InterContinental Hotels Group and we are thrilled to have such a dedicated and committed member of our team overseeing the hotel," said Denis Johnson, vice president, sales and marketing, InterContinental Hotels Group Middle East and Africa.

With extensive experience in the Middle East and European markets, Koumendakos has worked in the industry at properties in countries including the Netherlands, Northern Ireland, the Philippines, England and Canada. Fluent in English, Dutch and German, Koumendakos has a Bachelor of Hotel Business Administration, specializing in marketing and sales and international hotels from the School of Hospitality Management, The Netherlands.

"Positioned near to Manama's commercial centre, major shopping centres and tourist attractions, I am looking forward to looking after a mix of both business and leisure travellers," said Koumendakos.
