'We needed an account to pay our salaries into', says Lynne, 'and by opening a joint US dollar Offshore Bank Account in addition to our sterling account, we could manage our money through one bank.'
Richard adds: 'It's easy to check the balances for all our HSBC Offshore accounts online, on one screen. We've also signed up to receive monthly statements by email. These, too, cover our sterling as well as our US dollar offshore accounts with HSBC - so no more piles of paper statements!'
Richard and Lynne own a property in the UK, which they began letting when they left the UK. In Dubai, they switched the currency of the mortgage on this property to a US dollar foreign currency mortgage with us.
'This meant we could carry on making the repayments in the same currency as our salaries - and avoid paying foreign exchange charges each month.'
How we helped Richard and Lynne
Richard, a project manager for an international construction company, and Lynne, account manager for a multinational insurer, moved to Dubai eight months ago. They are both now paid in US dollars.
